We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Project Manager to lead the mechanical works on a variety of high-value projects ranging from £5M to £45M. Projects will span sectors such as Commercial Office Fit-Outs, Healthcare, Life Science and Education.

As the on-site lead for the mechanical package, you will be responsible for ensuring all works are delivered to programme deadlines, meet quality standards, and are completed within budget, delivering both client satisfaction and profitability for the company.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Documentation & Handover: Prepare and collate O&M manuals, as-installed drawings, and building logbooks to ensure timely project close-out.

  • Reporting & Communication: Maintain clear and consistent communication with the Divisional Manager and provide regular site updates.

  • Stakeholder Relations: Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, end users, consultants, and maintenance teams.

  • Issue Resolution: Proactively identify and resolve conflicts or issues on site.

  • Estimating Support: Review mechanical drawings and specifications to identify and extract equipment details for cost estimation.

  • Health & Safety Compliance: Deliver site inductions, daily briefings, toolbox talks; assist in the preparation of Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS); monitor compliance with the Health & Safety plan.

  • Subcontractor Management: Coordinate and liaise with subcontractors, ensuring smooth integration of works and resolving any site-based issues.

  • Team Management: Lead and manage all site-based personnel, ensuring productivity and compliance.

  • Continuous Improvement: Share lessons learned, flag recurring challenges, and contribute to process enhancements.

  • Design Liaison: Collaborate with the design team, respond to queries, and support with technical decision-making.

  • Technical Oversight: Supervise specialist mechanical installations with a sound understanding of various mechanical systems and their operation

  • Programme Monitoring: Track progress against the construction programme, report updates to the main contractor and client.

  • Quality Assurance: Conduct quality inspections, maintain check sheets, and ensure installations meet company standards.

  • Meeting Participation: Attend and contribute to regular progress meetings with clients and contractors.

  • Testing & Commissioning: Lead or oversee mechanical testing, manage specialist commissioning activities, and ensure timelines are met.

  • Procurement Oversight: Monitor material levels, assist with timely procurement and delivery of materials, and oversee the coordination of hired plant and equipment.

  • Reporting & Communication: Maintain clear and consistent communication with the Divisional Manager and provide regular site updates.

  • Stakeholder Relations: Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, end users, consultants, and maintenance teams.

  • Issue Resolution: Proactively identify and resolve conflicts or issues on site.

 

Candidate Profile

 

  • Strong understanding of procurement processes and contractual obligations in a project management context.

  • Background in Mechanical Engineering or a related mechanical trade.

  • Proven experience delivering complex projects within Education, Office Fit-Out, Healthcare, or Life Sciences—from inception to completion.
