Our client a law firm based in West London are looking for a Residential Paralegal to provide legal and administrative support to the Residential Property team, assisting with the smooth progression of conveyancing transactions from instruction to post-completion. The Residential Paralegal will work under the supervision of qualified solicitors and fee earners, ensuring high standards of client care, compliance, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the management of a caseload of residential property transactions, including freehold and leasehold sales and purchases, re-mortgages, and transfers of equity.
  • Draft and review documents including sale contracts, transfer deeds, leasehold packs, and completion statements.
  • Carry out searches (Land Registry, local authority, environmental, and other due diligence checks).
  • Liaise with clients, estate agents, mortgage lenders, and other solicitors to progress transactions.
  • Prepare and submit Land Registry applications and deal with requisitions.
  • Ensure files are maintained in accordance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage pre- and post-completion tasks including SDLT returns, file closures, and client reporting.
  • Maintain accurate records using case management software and ensure timely updates to clients.
  • Adhere to anti-money laundering (AML) policies and comply with SRA regulations at all times.

Essential:

  • A minimum of 12 months' experience in a residential conveyancing role.
  • Solid understanding of UK residential property law and conveyancing processes.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work to tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and legal case management systems.

Desirable:

  • Law degree, CILEX qualification, LPC or SQE Part 1.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced law firm or volume conveyancing environment.
  • Familiarity with case management systems such as LEAP, Proclaim, or similar.
