My client in Greater London is looking to appoint a talented Head of Democratic Services on a Contract basis.

This role will provide leadership, direction and management to Democratic Services to deliver first class committee, member and scrutiny services which contribute to the Council's recovery and improvement plans

About the role:

Based in Greater London (Hybrid):

  • Work with Councillors, the Monitoring Officer, Executive Directors and others to ensure the delivery of effective democratic services and the provision of constitutional advice.
  • Organise and co-ordinate the proper and effective planning, conduct and control of all the authority's democratic decision making processes and implementation.
  • Develop an effective scrutiny and governance function, in line with the Secretary of State's Directions to the authority, to ensure that scrutiny is an integral part of the Council's decision making process which provides constructive challenge.
  • To act as the Council's statutory Scrutiny Officer.

About you:You will have the following experiences:

  • Extensive experience in a similar role
  • Local Government experience is essential
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to constructively challenge

What's on offer:

  • Salary: £500-£550 per day, Inside IR35

*negotiable based on experience
