Pay Rate: 450/day (Inside IR35 via umbrella)

Overview

A leading infrastructure delivery organisation is seeking an Estimator to support a major programme of work focused on accelerating the UK's transition to net zero. This role will sit within project teams and be responsible for producing benchmark cost estimates for large-scale infrastructure projects up to the start of construction. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to nationally significant energy and infrastructure schemes, working in a collaborative and commercially focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilise Candy estimating software to create accurate project cost projections
  • Produce cost estimates for overhead transmission lines, underground high-voltage cables, and new build substations
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to gather necessary information for estimates
  • Benchmark bids and support procurement and commercial strategy
  • Record basis of estimates and contribute to bid approval documentation
  • Participate in drawing reviews and estimation exercises during interviews and project planning
  • Adapt to varying project sizes and complexities, from smaller schemes to multi-million-pound programmes
  • Communicate effectively with vendors and departments to ensure project requirements are met

Skills & Experience

  • Experience estimating major infrastructure projects (civil or M&E)
  • Familiarity with Candy estimating software
  • Exposure to regulated sectors such as Energy, Defence, Aerospace, or Commercial Construction
  • Understanding of construction techniques and their impact on cost and budgeting
  • Strong numeracy and commercial acumen, with an awareness of how decisions affect overall project costs
  • Organised and results-oriented, with a proactive and collaborative working style
  • Willingness to learn and adapt, with clear communication across all levels
  • A mindset focused on continuous improvement and efficiency
