We are seeking an experienced Critical Shift Supervisor to lead a technical engineering team within a business-critical environment in London. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for ensuring the safe, compliant, and effective delivery of critical maintenance services across a 24/7 operation.
You will oversee shift technicians, manage workloads, act as the key escalation point for clients and management, and ensure all critical systems operate to the highest standards. This role is ideal for a technically strong supervisor with experience in critical environments and a passion for leading high-performing teams.
Key Responsibilities
Manage, plan, schedule, and oversee day-to-day activities of the shift engineering team
Provide holiday, sickness, and training cover across the shift team
Review work logs and outstanding actions to ensure timely completion
Ensure full compliance with all safety, security, and site procedures
Manage contractor performance and support vendor relationships
Act as the primary escalation point for client and management issues
Support the development and delivery of critical services training programmes
Share technical knowledge and industry expertise to resolve complex operational issues
Review Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) assessments and recommend improvements or upgrades
Ensure incidents and out-of-line events are fully documented and reported
Resolve complex technical problems and implement effective solutions
Introduce new methods or processes to help the team meet operational objectives
Lead by example, driving high standards of behaviour, professionalism, and service delivery
Ensure team performance positively supports customer and business objectives
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
Minimum of 5 years' relevant engineering experience
Previous shift supervisor or team leadership experience
City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering
18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)
Strong understanding of critical engineering environments
Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Excellent organisational, planning, and problem-solving skills
Ability to communicate complex or sensitive information clearly
