About the Role:

We are looking for internal applications for an FGT Labourer to join our Mechanical Maintenance team based at the EcoPark in Edmonton, North London.

Main purpose of the role:

To clean and maintain plant, buildings and grounds in order to provide suitable conditions for the safe and efficient operation of the plant.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support Mechanical Technicians with servicing and maintenance tasks across all operational areas.
  • Perform minor repairs, including pipework fixes, flange tightening, and grease nipple replacements.
  • Carry out machine and plant lubrication, and assist with Air Pollution Control Residue (APCR) work.
  • Handle general labouring tasks such as cleaning, sweeping, hosing, and debris removal using manual and mechanical tools.
  • Operate mobile plant, forklift trucks, overhead and pendant cranes as needed.
  • Maintain tools, lifting gear, and the workshop to a high standard; complete maintenance documentation accurately.
  • Step in for Operator/Technician when required and support during outages to ensure efficient plant restoration.

Requirements

  • Background in heavy industry with mechanical experience is highly desirable.
  • Comfortable operating industrial cleaning equipment or small plant machinery; a full driving license is a plus.
  • Confident working in confined spaces and at heights, following all safety protocols.
  • Takes ownership of tasks with strong determination to see them through.
  • Works well in a team with a considerate, approachable attitude.
  • Familiar with safe working practices and committed to maintaining them.
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills required for completing assessments and using tablets.
  • This role operates a staggered shift pattern which includes 12 hour day shifts, weekends, night shifts and being on-call, so your personal circumstances must permit availability for response to being "called in" outside of normal working hours.
