About the Role:
As an Accounts Receivable Assistant, you will play an essential role in supporting the finance team by managing client invoicing, reconciling accounts, and assisting with credit control functions. Your proactive approach to problem-solving and strong numerical skills will contribute to the financial health of the organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Raise client invoices accurately and promptly in collaboration with the Accounts Receivable Accountant.
- Assist with credit control activities, including chasing overdue debts and resolving payment queries.
- Process customer payments accurately using the Sage 200 system.
- Reconcile accounts receivable ledger to ensure all payments are accounted for and accurately posted.
- Maintain and update customer account details in the financial system.
- Liaise with project leaders to resolve billing issues and client inquiries.
- Work collaboratively with the wider finance team to support reporting and reconciliation processes.
- Support month-end closing processes and reporting requirements.
- Assist in audits and provide necessary documentation.
- Perform general administrative tasks and manage filing and email inboxes.
What We're Looking For:
Experience and Qualifications:
- At least 1 year of experience in accounts receivable, finance, or a similar role, preferably in architecture or design.
- A degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related business field.
- Professional qualification (AAT, CIMA, or ACCA) at Level 3 or working towards one.
- Experience in a high-volume transactional environment is a plus.
Essential Skills and Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of fundamental financial principles like debits/credits and accounting cycles.
- Knowledge of bookkeeping and transactional processes.
- Understanding of data protection laws (GDPR) and management of confidential information.
- Excellent organisational skills to manage time and meet deadlines effectively.
- Attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Strong communicator who works well in a team and keeps others informed.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage200).
