As an Autism Support Assistant, you will work closely with the SENDCo and a team of professionals, providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with autism and associated learning needs.
Key responsibilities of an Autism Support Assistant include:
- Supporting pupils with autism, ASC, and ADHD either 1:1 or in small groups
- Working alongside the SENDCo and external specialists to implement personalised learning strategies
- Creating a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment that supports the development and wellbeing of each child
- Encouraging independence and positive social interaction
- Assisting with classroom activities, interventions, and behaviour management strategies
- Hold a Psychology degree from a UK university (or a related field)
- Have previous experience working with children, ideally those with SEN
- Demonstrate patience, empathy, and strong communication skills
