Adult Social Worker - Safeguarding Team

Are you a passionate and dedicated Adult Social Worker looking for a rewarding opportunity in a dynamic and supportive environment? The London Borough of Lewisham is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced individual to join our Adult Safeguarding Team.

The Role:

As an Adult Social Worker in the Safeguarding Team, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading on complex safeguarding enquiries, working in line with the Care Act (2014) and local policies and procedures.
  • Conducting comprehensive assessments of risk and need, developing person-centred support plans.
  • Working collaboratively with adults, their families, and a wide range of professionals from health, police, and other agencies.
  • Empowering individuals to make informed decisions about their lives and promoting their independence.
  • Attending and contributing to multi-agency meetings, including strategy discussions and safeguarding adult reviews.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Providing expert advice and guidance on safeguarding matters to colleagues and partner agencies.

About You:

We are looking for an Adult Social Worker who is:

  • Qualified Social Worker (DipSW, CQSW, BA Hons Social Work, or equivalent) with current SWE registration.
  • Demonstrable experience of working within adult social care, with a strong understanding of safeguarding principles and practice.
  • Knowledgeable of relevant legislation, including the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and local safeguarding adults' board procedures.
  • Skilled in undertaking complex risk assessments and managing challenging situations.
  • An excellent communicator, both written and verbal, with the ability to build rapport with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Able to work autonomously and as part of a team, managing a diverse caseload effectively.
  • Committed to continuous professional development and reflective practice.
