Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm

Watergate School is a purpose-built specialist primary school for pupils aged 4-11 with severe and complex learning difficulties, including autism and physical or sensory needs. The school provides a highly supportive and inclusive environment, offering excellent training, resources, and facilities such as sensory and therapy rooms, soft play, and a hydrotherapy pool.
About the role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and therapists to deliver individualised support and learning plans. You will help pupils to access learning, develop communication and life skills, and promote independence in a caring and structured environment.
We're looking for a dedicated candidate to:
- Support pupils with severe and complex learning needs in a nurturing and positive way
- Assist with classroom activities, therapy sessions, and personal care where required
- Use communication aids and strategies to engage pupils effectively
- Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to create a safe, stimulating environment
- Promote inclusion, positive behaviour, and emotional wellbeing for all pupils
Requirements - The ideal candidate would have:
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEN, particularly complex needs or autism
- A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A valid DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one
- Relevant training or qualifications in SEN support (desirable but not essential)
