Long Term Futures is seeking an experienced and confident SEN Teaching Assistant to support a pupil in Year 2 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This role is ideal for someone who already has strong experience in autism support and can hit the ground running, providing structure, consistency, and calm guidance from day one. Additional training and CPD will be provided to help you continue developing your skills throughout the year.
About the Role
Working closely with the class teacher and SENCo, you will play a central role in supporting the child's communication, emotional regulation and engagement in learning. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
* Providing consistent 1:1 support to help the pupil access the curriculum and remain focused
* Using ASD-friendly strategies including visual supports, clear routines and structured prompts
* Supporting emotional regulation through calm, predictable responses and co-regulation approaches
* Encouraging social interaction, communication and confidence during group work and play
* Helping deliver tailored interventions and adapt activities where necessary
* Liaising with staff to monitor progress and adapt strategies over time
Ideal Candidate Profile
* Experience supporting pupils with ASD in a primary school setting
* Confident, calm and able to provide structure and consistency
* Strong understanding of communication and sensory needs
* Positive, patient and proactive with strong relationship-building skills
* Reliable and fully committed to supporting progress across the full academic year
