SEN Teaching Assistant / Behaviour Mentor – Barking and Dagenham

We’re seeking a confident, compassionate SEN TA / Behaviour Mentor to join a dynamic East London school. You’ll work closely with students with special educational needs (SEN), providing tailored one-to-one and small-group support to help them engage, progress, and thrive in the classroom.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support pupils with SEN, including autism, ADHD, SEMH and behavioural needs

  • Implement behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques to maintain a positive learning environment

  • Assist teachers in planning and adapting lessons to meet individual needs

  • Foster emotional regulation, resilience, and confidence in pupils

  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to staff and parents

Ideal candidate:

  • Experienced working with children with SEN or behavioural challenges

  • Patient, empathetic, and proactive in supporting diverse needs

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • Able to remain calm under pressure and use restorative approaches

Requirements:

  • Must hold a valid enhanced DBS certificate

  • Able to provide two professional reference emails
