Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with special educational needs? A welcoming and well-resourced SEN school in Lambeth is seeking a dedicated and resilient SEN Youth Mentor to join their team immediately.
This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people with a range of complex needs, including Autism, ADHD, Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties, and Global Developmental Delay.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide consistent support and mentoring to students aged 11-16 with additional needs
Work on a 1:1 basis and in small groups to develop social, emotional, and behavioural skills
Help manage challenging behaviours using positive reinforcement and de-escalation techniques
Build trusting relationships with students to boost engagement and confidence
Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and the wider pastoral team
The Ideal Candidate Will:
Have experience supporting young people with SEN, especially SEMH, Autism, or ADHD
Be calm, empathetic, and able to build positive relationships with vulnerable students
Be confident using behaviour management strategies
Have a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
Be committed to promoting inclusion and helping every student succeed
