A forward-thinking secondary school in Lambeth is seeking a committed and empathetic SEN Youth Mentor to join their dedicated support team. This is a temp-to-perm role, with the flexibility to start either immediately or from September 2025, and the potential to secure a permanent position for the right candidate.



About the Role

As a SEN Youth Mentor, you will work closely with students who have a range of needs, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health), and learning difficulties. You will play a key role in helping these students access education, develop resilience, and make positive progress both academically and personally.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group mentoring support

  • Supporting students' engagement and emotional regulation

  • Assisting with the implementation of EHCPs and support plans

  • Encouraging confidence, social interaction, and independent skills

  • Monitoring and recording student progress

  • Collaborating with SENCOs, teachers, and pastoral staff



What We're Looking For

  • Experience supporting young people with SEN, particularly in schools or youth work

  • Strong behaviour management and communication skills

  • A calm, empathetic, and encouraging approach

  • Knowledge of safeguarding and professional boundaries

  • Team player with the ability to work independently

Desirable:

  • Experience with SEMH, Autism, or behavioural support

  • Familiarity with school systems and EHCPs
