A forward-thinking secondary school in Lambeth is seeking a committed and empathetic SEN Youth Mentor to join their dedicated support team. This is a temp-to-perm role, with the flexibility to start either immediately or from September 2025, and the potential to secure a permanent position for the right candidate.
About the Role
As a SEN Youth Mentor, you will work closely with students who have a range of needs, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health), and learning difficulties. You will play a key role in helping these students access education, develop resilience, and make positive progress both academically and personally.
Key responsibilities include:
Providing 1:1 and small group mentoring support
Supporting students' engagement and emotional regulation
Assisting with the implementation of EHCPs and support plans
Encouraging confidence, social interaction, and independent skills
Monitoring and recording student progress
Collaborating with SENCOs, teachers, and pastoral staff
What We're Looking For
Experience supporting young people with SEN, particularly in schools or youth work
Strong behaviour management and communication skills
A calm, empathetic, and encouraging approach
Knowledge of safeguarding and professional boundaries
Team player with the ability to work independently
Desirable:
Experience with SEMH, Autism, or behavioural support
Familiarity with school systems and EHCPs
