The Role - Secondary SEND Teaching Assistant

The successful Secondary SEND Teaching Assistant will provide 1:1 support to a Year 11 female student with a range of learning needs, behavioural needs, and epilepsy, including supporting the management of frequent seizures. The role requires a calm, confident, and resilient professional whois first aid trained and who can provide consistent and reassuring support throughout the school day.



Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group SEND support within the classroom

  • Support emotional regulation and implement positive behaviour strategies

  • Respond appropriately to medical needs, including seizure management

  • Remain calm and reassuring during challenging or high-pressure situations

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and support staff

  • Promote independence, safety, and inclusion within a secondary SEND setting



The Ideal Candidate

This SEND Teaching Assistant role would suit a candidate who:

  • Has proven experience supporting pupils with complex needs, ideally within a secondary SEND school or specialist provision

  • Is confident managing behaviour using positive

  • Holds a current First Aid qualification (essential due to epilepsy support)
