Operational Excellence Lead - Building Safety - Safety, Quality & Standards (12-Month Contract)

Robert Half are working with a client to helo them find a strategic and operationally-minded Operational Manager to lead the ongoing development of a national health, safety and quality improvement framework for building safety. This is a 12-month cover role that plays a vital part in shaping standards, guiding participating organisations, and driving continuous improvement in safety and compliance particularly in higher-risk or regulated industries.

?? What You'll Do:
  • Oversee the end-to-end onboarding, assessment and accreditation process for organisations working towards framework recognition.

  • Lead a small, high-performing team and coordinate a broader network of industry assessors.

  • Develop and continuously improve systems, digital tools, and processes to support the framework's delivery.

  • Represent the framework in key industry forums, events, and regulatory relationships.

  • Produce reports, impact data and user guidance to support transparency, learning and continuous improvement.

  • Support the strategic development of the framework, including planning for potential external accreditation (e.g., UKAS).

? What You'll Bring:
  • A background in health & safety, risk management or quality assurance-ideally in a high-hazard or regulated industry (e.g. construction or engineering).

  • Experience managing or contributing to standards, assessment frameworks or accreditation schemes.

  • Strong project management, operational delivery, and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Confident with digital systems and assessment platforms.

  • Comfortable with strategic planning as well as hands-on delivery.

  • Strong communication and influencing skills-you'll be the face of the framework for many external partners.

  • Experience in the construction or major hazard safety industries.

  • A degree in health & safety, risk, business, quality, or a related discipline.
