Role Overview

As Assistant Maintenance Manager, you will work closely with the Chief Engineer to ensure the smooth operation of all building systems and facilities. This is a hands-on leadership role, managing a team of four engineers and assistants, delivering both planned and reactive maintenance across our luxury property.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Chief Engineer in overseeing day-to-day maintenance operations.
  • Lead and motivate a team of maintenance engineers and assistants.
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations and statutory requirements.
  • Manage planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules and reactive repairs.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues across mechanical, electrical, and building systems.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and reporting.
  • Liaise with external contractors and suppliers when required.
  • Uphold the highest standards of service and presentation in all areas.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven supervisory experience in a luxury residential or 5-star hospitality environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems (HVAC, BMS, plumbing).
  • Relevant technical qualifications (City & Guilds, NVQ, or equivalent).
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead by example and inspire a team.
  • A proactive, solution-focused approach with attention to detail.
