Exciting Opportunity for a Highway Engineer
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a passionate and experienced Highway Engineer to join a progressive local authority team in Leicestershire. The main duties of the Highway Engineer are:
路Design, assess, and implement highway maintenance and improvement schemes across Leicestershire.
路Issue and manage works orders to the term maintenance contractor.
路Supervise contract awards, liaising with third-party stakeholders and agreeing contract payments.
路Work closely with other Highways officers to maintain a safe and functional road network.
路Record scheme information accurately in the Asset Management System to support legal compliance.
路Apply relevant legislation such as the Highways Act 1980 and the Well-Managed Highway Infrastructure guidance.
The Highway Engineer will have key experience in:
路Delivering highway safety and maintenance projects in a local authority or similar setting.
路Understanding and applying highway-related legislation and best practice.
路Demonstrating strong written and verbal communication skills with technical accuracy.
路Collaborating effectively with contractors, consultants, and internal teams.
路Holding a full UK driving licence to enable travel to various locations across the county.
