Overview
A globally recognised leader in the manufacturing sector is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to lead compliance, cultural transformation, and training across its UK production site. This is a full-time, on-site role in a technically complex environment that includes metal cutting, painting, fabrication, and mechanical assembly.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all site-based health and safety activities
- Deliver internal training on manual handling, crane safety, abrasive wheels, and slinging
- Conduct weekly toolbox talks and maintain a strong on-floor presence
- Drive positive behavioural and cultural change around safety practices
- Ensure compliance with HSE legislation, insurance standards, and internal processes
- Work collaboratively across departments to embed health and safety into operations
- Maintain HSE systems and ensure audit readiness
- Support new product introduction with a safety-first approach
- Lead investigations and root cause analysis for accidents and near misses
- Evaluate and maintain proper use of PPE and safety equipment
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience in a relevant manufacturing environment (e.g., engineering-led production, metal fabrication, or heavy assembly)
- Ability to deliver engaging in-house training across core HSE areas
- NEBOSH (or equivalent) qualification
- Solid understanding of regulatory compliance and insurance frameworks
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- High emotional intelligence with a practical, hands-on leadership style
- Comfortable being on-site five days a week, with strong shopfloor visibility
