Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Sous Chef to support the catering team at our client's School. This is a short-term cover role, ideal for a skilled chef who can step in and deliver high-quality, consistent service in a school environment.
Pay & Benefits
- Hourly Rate: £18.00 - £21.00 (depending on experience)
- Weekly pay via NRC Staffing
- Social Hours - NO WEEKENDS
- Opportunity for further assignments upon successful completion
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Head Chef in the daily preparation and cooking of meals for pupils and staff.
- Ensure meals are nutritious, balanced, and meet dietary requirements (including allergies and special diets).
- Supervise and assist kitchen staff to maintain smooth service.
- Monitor food quality, presentation, and portion control.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and food safety in line with regulations.
- Assist with stock control, ordering supplies, and minimising waste.
- Step in to cover the Head Chef when required.
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef (school or contract catering experience beneficial)
- Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 minimum, Level 3 preferred)
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility and reliability to cover the full contract period
