Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Sous Chef to support the catering team at our client's School. This is a short-term cover role, ideal for a skilled chef who can step in and deliver high-quality, consistent service in a school environment.

Pay & Benefits

  • Hourly Rate: £18.00 - £21.00 (depending on experience)
  • Weekly pay via NRC Staffing
  • Social Hours - NO WEEKENDS
  • Opportunity for further assignments upon successful completion

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Head Chef in the daily preparation and cooking of meals for pupils and staff.
  • Ensure meals are nutritious, balanced, and meet dietary requirements (including allergies and special diets).
  • Supervise and assist kitchen staff to maintain smooth service.
  • Monitor food quality, presentation, and portion control.
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and food safety in line with regulations.
  • Assist with stock control, ordering supplies, and minimising waste.
  • Step in to cover the Head Chef when required.

Candidate Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef (school or contract catering experience beneficial)
  • Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 minimum, Level 3 preferred)
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility and reliability to cover the full contract period
