A specialist healthcare engineering and compliance provider is seeking an experienced AP(Vent) / CP(Vent) professional to deliver authorised ventilation verification, testing, certification, and compliance assurance across live healthcare environments.

This role is critical to ensuring ventilation systems meet HTM 03-01 and associated healthcare standards, supporting safe operation, handover, and ongoing compliance within high-risk clinical environments.

The successful candidate will act as the competent person responsible for verifying critical ventilation systems and liaising with estates, clinical, and project stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out ventilation verification testing on new, refurbished, and existing healthcare ventilation systems
  • Verify airflow volumes (supply, extract, transfer) and air change rates (ACH)
  • Assess and confirm pressure regimes and pressure cascades in positive and negative pressure environments
  • Undertake room integrity testing where applicable
  • Verify temperature and humidity performance
  • Test alarms, interlocks, and failsafe systems via BMS and local controls
  • Verify system performance against design intent, HTM 03-01 requirements, and site policies
  • Witness and validate commissioning activities, including review of test sheets, commissioning plans, O&M manuals, and handover documentation
  • Produce compliance documentation, verification reports, certification packs, and non-conformance logs
  • Liaise with Estates teams, IPC, clinical users, M&E contractors, commissioning engineers, and project management teams
  • Ensure all test equipment is calibrated, traceable, and audit-ready
  • Work safely in live healthcare environments, complying with RAMS, permits, infection control procedures, and site protocols
  • Support project handover and ongoing compliance activities

Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience delivering ventilation verification within live healthcare estates
  • Proven background in hospital ventilation testing and certification
  • Strong working knowledge of HTM 03-01 and pressure cascade principles
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
  • Excellent written reporting skills with a clear, auditable approach
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple sites or projects

Qualifications

Essential

  • Current AP(Vent) or CP(Vent) appointment and/or recognised HTM 03-01 ventilation certification
  • Relevant building services or mechanical engineering qualification, or equivalent experience

Desirable

  • CIBSE commissioning knowledge or qualification
  • CSCS, IOSH, or SSSTS
  • IPAF / PASMA
  • Experience validating theatre ventilation and other critical environments
