Forge Talent are supporting a globally operating and leading retail business with a newly created opportunity for an Accounts Payable Specialist. This position has arisen due to an internal promotion and is an ideal opportunity for an enthusiastic and positive team player with end-to-end accounts payable experience.

As the Accounts Payable Clerk, you will take sole responsibility for your designated ledger, managing the end-to-end process whilst working alongside a small divisional Finance Team.

Purchase Ledger Clerk Responsibilities:

  • To maintain all aspects of the purchase ledger across the Group.
  • Coding purchase invoices to the relevant nominal accounts, ensuring accuracy.
  • Communicate with suppliers to obtain missing invoices and purchase orders as required.
  • Process weekly and monthly supplier payment runs
  • Complete and distribute reporting to the Senior Finance and Sales teams.
  • Process company credit card spend and expenses, reconciling against the bank and posting to relevant ledgers.
  • Recording expenses and VAT calculations, posting to the nominal ledger and supplier accounts.
  • Completing multiple weekly bank reconciliations.
  • Performing supplier statement reconciliations, requesting supporting information and resolving associated queries as required.
  • Processing and recording of stock invoices
  • Proactively working to reduce and resolve supplier queries.

Purchase Ledger Clerk Required Experience:

  • Previous experience in an account’s payable capacity with a desire to continue a career path in this field.
  • A highly organised and methodical approach to tasks and duties
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build and develop trusting relationships with suppliers and key stakeholders
  • Effective time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks accordingly.
  • A high degree of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • The ability to adapt to change and work in a fast paced and continuously evolving environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a multi-site team and business.
  • A positive and enthusiastic approach to both the role and team.
  • A willingness and eagerness to continually learn and develop skillset.
  • Strong IT and Excel skills.
