The Opportunity

Our client, a fast-growing, tech-led specialist lender, is seeking an experienced Bridging Underwriter to join their entrepreneurial team. Key Responsibilities:
  • Underwrite bridging finance applications across residential, commercial, and semi-commercial properties
  • Conduct thorough due diligence, including valuation reports, legal documentation, borrower credibility, and exit strategies
  • Collaborate closely with brokers, solicitors, surveyors, and internal teams to ensure swift and smooth deal completion
  • Drive loans from application through to draw-down, ensuring high standards of compliance and customer service
  • Contribute to process and platform improvements, working in tandem with the tech team to optimise workflows
  • Take a proactive role in shaping internal policy, lending appetite, and operational frameworks
Ideal Candidate Profile:
  • Proven experience in underwriting bridging loans, with solid knowledge of residential, commercial, and semi-commercial lending
  • Strong understanding of property finance, risk management, and regulatory frameworks
  • Comfortable working autonomously in a fast-paced, tech-enabled environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail
  • Confident in liaising with brokers, solicitors, valuers, and other stakeholders to drive case progression
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a collaborative approach and a passion for innovation
Desirable Skills & Experience:
  • Current or previous lending mandate held
  • Experience across broader property lending, including Buy-To-Let and Commercial Term mortgages
  • Background in Business Development, Sales, or Product roles within specialist lending
  • Familiarity with digital lending platforms, automated underwriting tools, and AI-driven risk models
  • Strong understanding of risk, regulatory compliance, and property lending due diligence
  • Commercially astute with excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Tech-savvy, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, start-up environment
