Job Description:
A dynamic opportunity has opened up for a Business Advisor with sectoral expertise in Construction and Green Technologies. This role focuses on supporting employers to address workforce challenges, upskill their teams, and build sustainable recruitment and development strategies. By working with businesses across Greater Manchester, you’ll be instrumental in aligning workforce planning with the city-region’s green growth ambitions and housing priorities. This is an excellent fit for someone who thrives on helping businesses navigate skills needs while promoting inclusive, local employment.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Build strong relationships with business leaders across the construction and green economy sectors.
  • Offer strategic advice to support sustainable workforce development and talent planning.
  • Collaborate with sector leads to implement green skills strategies and housing workforce targets.
  • Support businesses in recruiting locally and fostering inclusive employment practices.
  • Engage with colleges, training providers, and wider networks to develop tailored skills solutions.
  • Conduct diagnostic assessments to identify workforce gaps, training needs, and growth barriers.
  • Record all activity accurately and contribute to ongoing service performance monitoring.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Strong background in organisational development, workforce planning, or HR strategy.
  • Deep knowledge of the construction and green economy sectors and their unique challenges.
  • Demonstrated experience in skills brokerage, training needs analysis, and business engagement.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to influence and present to varied audiences.
  • Familiarity with Greater Manchester’s employment and training ecosystem.
  • Degree-level qualification or equivalent business/HR experience (CIPD desirable).
  • Proficient in using CRM and administrative systems to manage client caseloads.
  • Collaborative and outcomes-driven, with a commitment to inclusive business support.
