Hybrid working - 3 days on site, 2 days wfh with travel between two sites (Manchester and South Yorkshire) - this role can be based out of either location
Salary up to £80k plus £6k car allowance and benefits.
Medlock Partners have partnered with a successful and profitable business on a Head of HR opportunity to lead a small team and drive the People Agenda.
The successful person will support the Chief People Officer to lead and direct the HR team, develop and execute the organisation's people strategy, which includes talent acquisition, retention, development, and engagement. Collaborate closely senior leaders to create a high-performance culture that enables the organisation to achieve its strategic goals.
Key responsibilities of the Head of HR:
· Support the Chief People Officer in the development and execution of the organisation's people strategy, which includes talent acquisition, retention, development, and engagement
· Translate strategic priorities into actionable HR plans across recruitment, performance, development, engagement, and retention
· Ensure alignment of HR activity with broader organisational goals and regulatory frameworks.
· Provide leadership and direction to the HR team, ensuring clarity of roles, high performance, and professional development
· Conduct regular Employee Development Reviews with all direct reports
· Act as a senior point of contact for leaders on HR matters
· Provide expert guidance on complex employee relations, organisational change, workforce planning, and talent management
· Maintain and oversee implementation of HR policies and procedures in accordance with current employment legislation and best practice
· Ensure legal compliance across all HR activities, including all applicable laws and regulations related to employment, including employment laws, equal opportunity laws, and data privacy laws
· Oversee Learning & Development to ensure effective identification and delivery of training and development needs across the group
· Support the implementation of leadership development, mandatory training, and succession planning
· Support change programmes, including restructures, TUPE processes, cultural change initiatives
· Contribute to continuous improvement in organisational design, role clarity, and job evaluation practices
· Monitor key HR metrics e.g. turnover, headcount, engagement, and provide insights to inform decisions
· Promote and embed a positive, inclusive workplace culture aligned to the company’s values
· Support engagement initiatives and Employee Forums, acting on feedback to improve the employee experience
Key requirements for the Head of HR:
· CIPD Level 7 qualification
· Working knowledge of Natural HR or equivalent
· Experience in a HR leadership role
· Proven experience supporting and executing people strategies that support the achievement of business goals
· Experience of a multi-site operation
· Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business goals into people strategy and execution
· Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and senior leaders
· Strong analytical skills and the ability to use data to inform people decisions
· Experience managing and developing high performing teams, with a proven ability to hire, train, and retain top talent.
