Freelance Quantity Surveyor – High-Rise Residential Project

Location: Central Manchester (m1)
Start Date: 1st September 2025
Duration: 9 Months
Rate: Competitive (DOE) - Around £(Apply online only)/shift

We are currently recruiting for a Site-Based Quantity Surveyor to join an established commercial team on a high-rise project in Central Manchester, starting 1st September 2025 for around 9 months.

Reporting directly to the Commercial Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the successful commercial delivery of the project through accurate measurement, cost forecasting, subcontractor management, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with client valuations as work progresses, through to final account
  • Prepare and monitor cash flow forecasts aligned with the programme
  • Accurately value, forecast, and monitor site preliminaries
  • Ensure full recovery and valuation of variations and instructions
  • Provide timely and accurate project documentation and warranties
  • Administer subcontractor contracts and accounts, including payment notices in line with legislation
  • Produce subcontractor final accounts, re-measuring and valuing variations to maximise commercial outcomes
  • Compile monthly Cost/Value Reconciliations and forecasts, highlighting risks and opportunities
  • Identify and escalate commercial threats promptly and ensure correct issue of contractual notices
  • Attend project meetings and deliver accurate and timely cost advice and surveying information

Requirements:

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent qualification/experience
  • Proven experience working for a Main Contractor
  • Solid understanding of Design & Build projects, ideally with JCT contracts
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
