Senior Finance Assistant

Location: South Manchester

Salary: circa £28,000- £35,000 DOE

We're currently recruiting for a highly motivated and proactive Senior Finance Assistant to join a well-established and growing organisation based in South Manchester. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong transactional finance experience, ideally within an SME, who is looking to take the next step in their career.The role offers excellent progression opportunities to gain exposure to the production of management accounts and full study support for AAT, CIMA or ACCA qualifications. You'll play a key part in supporting the finance function, gaining exposure to month-end processes, reconciliations, and wider finance operations. Responsibilities:

  • Assist with month-end processes, journals, and intercompany reconciliations
  • Raising sales invoices, resolving queries, and credit control
  • Raising PO's, processing purchase invoicesand producing monthly supplier payment runs
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Processing staff expense claims and company credit card expenses
  • VAT returns
  • Support with end to end processing of payroll, including FPS, submitting pension contributions and being the first point of contact for employee queries
  • Partner with and work closely with other teams to support them with accurate financial information
  • Take ownership of all transactional finance for multiple entities, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and accurately
  • Continuously assess and implement improvements to financial processes and systems for greater efficiency as the business grows

Skills & Attributes:

  • Ideally AAT Level 4 qualified or working towards
  • 3+ years' experience in a similar role, with demonstrated ability to take ownership of it
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles
  • Experience of Xero advantageous
  • Proactive & positive mindset
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Desire to learn
