Your New Company

Hays Education is working in partnership with a supportive and inclusive primary school in the heart of Tameside. The school has a dedicated SEN unit that provides specialist support for pupils with a range of additional needs, including autism, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges. Due to expansion, the school is seeking a skilled and passionate HLTA to join their team from September.

Your New Role

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality support to pupils within the SEN unit. You will work closely with the SENCO and class teachers to plan and deliver targeted interventions, lead small group sessions, and occasionally cover lessons in the absence of the teacher. This is a full-time, long-term role with the hope of becoming permanent depending on fit and performance. Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs
  • Delivering structured interventions and learning activities
  • Leading small group and 1:1 sessions
  • Assisting with planning and assessment under teacher guidance
  • Promoting a positive, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment

What You'll Need to Succeed

To be considered for this role, you will need:

  • HLTA status or equivalent qualification
  • Experience working with children with SEN, ideally in a primary setting
  • Strong behaviour management and communication skills
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach
