About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Learning Mentor to join a supportive primary school in the Darley Dale area. This role focuses on providing targeted support to Key Stage 2 pupils, particularly those facing barriers to learning due to social, emotional, or behavioural challenges. As a Learning Mentor, you will play a pivotal role in fostering a positive learning environment and helping pupils achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Individual and Small Group Support: Work closely with pupils to address specific learning needs, providing tailored interventions to enhance academic progress and personal development.
  • Behaviour and Emotional Support: Implement strategies to support pupils in managing emotions, improving behaviour, and building resilience.
  • Collaboration with Staff: Work alongside teachers and the SENCO to develop and deliver effective support plans.
  • Parental Engagement: Communicate with parents and carers to ensure a holistic approach to pupil development and to keep them informed of progress.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and interventions, contributing to reviews and assessments as required.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience: Previous experience working with children in a school setting, particularly within Key Stage 2.
  • Qualifications: Relevant qualifications in education or child development (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification).
  • Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
  • Attributes: Empathetic, patient, and proactive, with a genuine passion for supporting children's learning and well-being.
