Our client seeks a dynamic and experienced Waste Manager to lead and oversee the delivery of high-quality, efficient, and compliant waste management services. This pivotal role combines operational leadership, strategic planning, and financial oversight to ensure the smooth running of our waste management operations. 

Day-to-day of the role: 

  • Lead and manage the operational delivery of waste services, ensuring performance targets are met and resources are effectively coordinated. 
  • Provide strong leadership and line management to staff, promoting a culture of safety, performance, and continuous improvement. 
  • Manage budgets and programmes, ensuring financial targets are achieved through sound budgetary control. 
  • Oversee the procurement and management of internal and external contracts, partnerships, and service agreements. 
  • Ensure services are customer-focused and compliant with all relevant legislation, including the Council’s Operator’s Licence obligations. 
  • Develop and implement service and team action plans, using performance data to drive improvements. 
  • Regulate and coordinate with external stakeholders to align their activities with the unit’s objectives. 
  • Foster innovation and service improvement through strategic partnerships and collaborative working. 
  • Prepare timely and accurate reports for internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Develop and maintain operational procedures to ensure effective control of key functions. 

Required Skills & Qualifications: 

  • Proven track record in waste management or a similar operational environment. 
  • Strong understanding of health & safety, HR practices, and performance management. 
  • Budget management and financial planning experience. 
  • Knowledge of waste management legislation and compliance requirements. 
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills. 
  • Confident leadership capabilities with a commitment to developing team members.
