Lecturer in Performing Arts

Location: Rotherham

Salary: Up to £13,923 per annum (1 FTE £32,199) (Depending on experience and qualifications)

Job Type: Temporary for 12 months, 16 hours per week

The Role

You will be required to plan and deliver teaching to Further Education students across the Performing Arts provision at Rotherham College. You should have professional experience across performing arts disciplines including musical theatre and acting. You will be working with students to ensure they achieve their best potential as they make their way into employment or higher education.

Their working theatre is a fantastic backdrop for you to nurture performing arts skills in their students. Each term they showcase their performance skills to the general public and create dynamic shows with all the industry standard lighting and sound technology.

Their teaching team are professional practitioners in their fields, and they pride themselves on outstanding results on all the musical theatre shows along with classical and contemporary acting.

In this role you can influence and contribute towards the College's provision in this key area. You will have the opportunity not only to impart your knowledge and expertise to college students but ultimately will make an impact on the wider community.

You will play a key role in delivering outstanding quality teaching, learning and assessment which will support students to achieve their best no matter what their challenges are to do so, and present yourself as a positive role model to students.

Skills and Qualifications

You will:

  • Have a teaching qualification or be working towards one
  • Have an appropriate level professional qualification in a relevant subject specialism
  • Have experience of teaching in Performing Arts.
  • Hold a Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification in English and Maths or be willing to work towards.

Candidates should be an effective and motivated team player, with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with colleagues and management to achieve strategic and organisational objectives.

You will be able to bring the subject to life, using combined methods of practical, theoretical and digital which will engage your learners and provide them with the best skills, knowledge and behaviours for the future.

Department Info

You will work as part of the curriculum team at the Rotherham campus, and you will also closely work with and take direction from their Curriculum Team Leaders. You will be line managed by the Curriculum Manager.
