Business Development / Account Manager

Location: Milton Keynes – Covering the Midlands & South (Remote with travel)

Salary: £50,000 – £55,000 per annum commission, car or car allowance

Purpose of the Role

In this growth-focused position, you will spend approximately 70% of your time identifying and securing new business opportunities and 30% managing and expanding a portfolio of existing accounts.

This is a strategic role that combines the challenge of winning new business with the satisfaction of strengthening client relationships. Working alongside marketing, lead generation, and internal support teams, you will be instrumental in driving revenue and market presence.

Key Responsibilities

New Business Development (70%)

  • Identify and target new market opportunities across the company’s core sectors.
  • Leverage both independent prospecting and marketing-generated leads to build a strong sales pipeline.
  • Conduct thorough research to approach decision-makers and arrange meetings.
  • Deliver engaging presentations and tailored proposals to meet client needs.
  • Negotiate contracts and close profitable deals.
  • Represent the company at trade shows, exhibitions, and networking events.

Account Management (30%)

  • Manage a portfolio of existing accounts, building relationships across all decision-making levels.
  • Develop and implement account plans to increase sales and product penetration.
  • Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities within the existing product portfolio.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction through proactive reviews and responsive service.
  • Monitor account performance against sales and margin targets.

Requirements

  • Proven track record in B2B business development with some account management experience.
  • Experience selling consumable products to end users (cleaning/janitorial sector advantageous).
  • Strong skills in prospecting, pitching, negotiation, and closing.
  • Commercially astute with excellent margin management knowledge.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to quickly build rapport and trust.
  • Highly organised, self-motivated, and target-driven.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM systems (Salesforce or similar preferred).
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly across the region.
