CNC Setter / Operator Milton KeynesMonday to Thursday: 07:45am – 4:30pm Friday – 3:30pmUp to £19 DOE Our client is seeking a skilled CNC Setter/Operator to join their Machine Shop team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for programming, setting, and operating CNC lathes and mills to produce components in accordance with technical drawings and production schedules.Key Duties:
  • Program, set, and operate CNC Turning Centres with live tooling, CNC Lathes (Fanuc controls), and twin-pallet CNC vertical/horizontal mills.
  • Operate a 5-Axis CNC Machining Centre with 8 Pallet AWC.
  • Select appropriate tools, cutting parameters, and machine settings.
  • Set and operate manual milling, turning, and grinding machinery when required.
  • Use precision measuring tools (micrometers, verniers, gauges) to verify component accuracy.
  • Collaborate with the Process Engineer to maintain and update setup sheets.
  • Complete all required job documentation accurately and on time.
  • Prepare and handle raw materials efficiently.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and fluid checks on a weekly/monthly basis.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures and suggest improvements where applicable.
  • Support continuous improvement and team-based collaboration.
  • Perform other tasks as reasonably requested within your skillset.
The Ideal Candidate:
  • Proficient in programming, setting, and operating CNC lathes and/or milling machines.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret technical manufacturing drawings.
  • Solid understanding of engineering tolerances and machining principles.
  • Skilled in using micrometers, verniers, and other inspection equipment.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM programming (Fusion 360) is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and effective problem-solving abilities.
  • Positive and proactive attitude toward work and process improvement.
Desirable:
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with CNC lathes and milling machines using Fanuc controls
  • Relevant qualification in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering.
