Milton Keynes (1-2 days a week onsite)

We are partnered with a client who is embarking on a major Digital Transformation roadmap. This programme will modernise legacy platforms and play a pivotal role in transforming both IT and wider operating systems.

We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Solutions Architect to lead the design and delivery of modern infrastructure solutions, with a particular focus on transitioning from a Citrix-based VDI environment to modern, cloud-based or hybrid end-user computing models.

The successful candidate will work closely with architecture, delivery, operational teams and outsourced suppliers to ensure solutions are secure, scalable, resilient, and successfully transitioned into Business as Usual (BAU). • Ensure infrastructure designs meet security, resilience, governance, and operational standards
  • Collaborate with delivery and operations teams to enable smooth handover into BAU
  • Author, review, and present architecture designs, option papers, and recommendations to Architecture Working Groups and senior stakeholders
  • Act as a technical authority, engaging with suppliers, internal teams, and senior leadership

Required Technical Skills & Experience

Extensive experience with Microsoft Azure, including:

  • Architecture, Compute, Networking, Identity, Storage, and Security
  • Proven experience with Azure DevSecOps
  • Strong proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep)
  • Experience leading or contributing to Azure migration and transformation projects
  • Hands-on experience with VMware environments
  • Strong background in Enterprise Strategy and Architecture (TOGAF and/or SABSA)
  • Experience implementing Zero Trust Architecture principles
  • Solid understanding of FinOps and cloud cost management
  • Azure certification: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305)

End-User Computing & Microsoft Platform Experience

Hands-on experience with:

  • Azure
  • Active Directory
  • Microsoft 365
  • Intune
  • Strong understanding of Citrix VDI environments and alternative EUC strategies
  • Experience designing pragmatic, real-world solutions in live operational environments
  • Exposure to Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) is highly desirable

Soft Skills & Personal Attributes

  • Strong understanding of security, governance, and operational best practices
  • Demonstrable ability to lead design and architectural governance activities
  • Confident communicator, capable of engaging technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience working with suppliers and senior leadership within complex enterprise organisations
  • Customer-centric mindset with a practical, outcome-focused approach
