Macildowie are exclusively working with a well-established, family-owned business based in Milton Keynes to recruit a Part-Time Accounts Assistant on a 15-month assignment. This role will report directly to the Finance Controller and be part of a small, close-knit finance team. The company has an £8 million turnover and a team of 40 staff, with a strong presence in North America, where 40% of their customers are based. They operate in a relaxed and supportive environment, with many long-standing employees.

This role will focus on sales ledger, accounts receivable, and credit control, with a strong emphasis on building and maintaining relationships with existing customers to ensure effective account management and timely payments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing the sales ledger and accounts receivable function, ensuring accurate and timely invoicing.
  • Building strong relationships with key customers, including distributors and SMEs, to support effective credit control.
  • Chasing overdue payments professionally and escalating where necessary.
  • Setting up new customers, performing credit checks, and agreeing on credit limits.
  • Processing customer receipts, bank transactions, and reconciliations.
  • Assisting with general finance tasks, including credit card reconciliations and audit support.

What We're Looking For:

  • Previous credit control and sales ledger experience, ideally in a relationship-focused role.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with customers and internal teams.
  • Attention to detail with experience in handling accounts receivable and invoicing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, QuickBooks).
  • Ability to work independently and within a small finance team.
