Welding Engineer

Position Summary

The Welding Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and optimization of welding processes, procedures, and techniques to ensure the structural integrity and quality of welded components and assemblies. The Welding Engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to address welding-related issues, implement quality control measures, and stay abreast of the latest welding technologies and industry best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, or a related engineering field.
  • Professional engineering license or certification (e.g., Professional Engineer, Certified Welding Engineer).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in welding engineering, with a strong understanding of welding processes, materials, and metallurgy.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting welding codes, standards, and specifications (e.g., AWS, ASME, API).
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with welding equipment, inspection techniques, and quality control methods.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing project requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and optimize welding processes, procedures, and techniques to meet the required specifications and performance standards.
  • Conduct welding feasibility studies, weld procedure qualifications, and weld process validations to ensure the suitability and reliability of welding applications.
  • Analyse welding-related issues and problems, and recommend solutions to improve productivity, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Develop and implement welding inspection and quality control plans to ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and specifications.
  • Provide technical support and training to welding personnel, including welders, welding supervisors, and quality inspectors.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as design, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to optimize welding-related aspects of product development and production.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest welding technologies, materials, and industry best practices, and incorporate them into the company's welding processes.
  • Prepare and maintain welding-related documentation, including welding procedures, inspection reports, and test results.
