Contracts Manager – Civil Engineering (Permanent)
Location: West of Scotland

Our client, a well-established regional civil engineering contractor specialising in road surfacing and groundworks, is seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to join their team on a permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity to take responsibility for a varied portfolio of infrastructure projects across the West of Scotland.

Key Responsibilities:

Client Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with both new and existing clients, including local authorities, construction firms, and private sector organisations.
  • Act as the primary point of contact, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction and fostering long-term partnerships.
  • Proactively enhance client engagement to support sustained business development.

Business Development

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within target markets.
  • Convert commercial leads into secured contracts to increase turnover and market presence.

Negotiation and Pricing

  • Lead negotiations on pricing and service terms with clients.
  • Ensure pricing strategies remain commercially competitive and aligned with business objectives.

Invoicing and Financial Oversight

  • Oversee the invoicing process to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Monitor financial transactions, maintaining healthy cash flow and supporting account reconciliation.

Resource Management

  • Manage the allocation of plant, labour, and materials across multiple live sites.
  • Coordinate recruitment and workforce planning in line with project demands to maximise operational efficiency.

Market Insight

  • Stay informed of market trends, competitor activity, and broader industry developments.
  • Provide strategic input to enhance service delivery and uphold competitive advantage.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Degree or HND in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Significant experience managing civil engineering projects at a senior level.
  • Proven ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously with effective resource coordination.
  • Methodical and organised, with a proactive approach to planning and delivery.
  • Strong commercial acumen with a track record of delivering financially successful outcomes.
  • NEC3 and NEC4 contract experience is essential.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.
