Teaching Assistant - Special Educational Needs

About the Role

We are seeking a Teaching Assistant to join our committed team within our Special Educational Needs SEN provision. You will work closely with pupils who have a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and other learning challenges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with SEN

  • Assist with adapting learning materials and delivering differentiated activities

  • Support students' emotional, social, and behavioural development

  • Implement behaviour management strategies under teacher guidance

  • Work collaboratively with class teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals

  • Help with personal care and mobility needs where required

  • Monitor progress and contribute to individual education plans (IEPs/EHCPs)

What We're Looking For
  • Experience working with children with special educational needs (essential/preferred)

  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work flexibly and as part of a supportive team

  • A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or 3) or willingness to work towards one

  • Knowledge of SEN strategies such as Makaton, PECS, or sensory integration (desirable)
