Teaching Assistant - Autism Support (Full-Time)
Location: Newark, Nottinghamshire (NG24)
Daily Rate: 90 - 100
Contract Type: Temporary to permanent
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm (term-time only)
Start Date: Immediate start available
Are you passionate about supporting autistic children and young people in their education? Do you have recent classroom experience and a recognised qualification in supporting learning?
We are working with a specialist school in Newark (NG24) that provides tailored education for pupils with autism. The school is committed to offering a calm, structured and supportive environment where learners can build confidence, independence and essential life skills.
This full-time role is perfect for someone with patience, empathy and a genuine commitment to helping autistic pupils achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Supporting children and young people aged 5-16 in both one-to-one and small group sessions
Assisting with personalised learning programmes and maintaining consistent routines
Encouraging engagement and communication through tailored activities
Providing support during transitions and reducing anxiety where needed
Working alongside teachers to deliver motivating and targeted lessons
Contributing to a calm, inclusive and respectful classroom setting
We're Looking for Candidates With:
Recent experience in a UK school environment
A relevant qualification such as CACHE Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent)
Strong understanding of autism and how it impacts learning and behaviour
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships
A calm, empathetic and consistent approach to supporting pupils
Desirable Experience Includes:
Supporting non-verbal pupils or those using AAC systems
Knowledge of Makaton, PECS or sensory-based strategies
