Senior Quantity Surveyor - Social Housing

Are you an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in social housing? Ready to step into a senior role where your expertise will directly impact the delivery of high-quality, affordable homes?

We are recruiting on behalf of a reputable and well-established contractor with a strong presence in the social housing sector. Due to ongoing growth and a robust project pipeline across Berkshire and surrounding areas, they are seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their Newbury-based commercial team.

Role Overview
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take commercial responsibility for a range of social housing projects, including refurbishment and new build schemes. Working closely with project managers, site teams, and clients, you will ensure that all financial and contractual aspects are managed efficiently, and projects are delivered within budget and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing the commercial delivery of multiple housing schemes from inception to completion

  • Preparing and negotiating tenders, contracts, and cost estimates

  • Monitoring project performance against budgets and forecasts

  • Procuring and managing subcontractors and suppliers

  • Preparing interim valuations, variations, and final accounts

  • Undertaking risk analysis and value engineering assessments

  • Supporting and mentoring junior surveyors where required

  • Developing and maintaining positive relationships with clients and stakeholders

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in quantity surveying, with at least 2 years in a senior role

  • Strong background in social or affordable housing projects

  • Excellent working knowledge of JCT and/or NEC contracts

  • Strong financial, contractual, and negotiation skills

  • Proactive, organised, and commercially minded

  • Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or related discipline

  • Full UK driving licence
