Leader Education are recruiting a Cover Teacher to work within an alternative provision based in Newcastle.

This successful applicant will preferably have a knowledge of science/outside based learning.

The school supports pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH), so experience working with SEMH students or vulnerable individuals would be highly beneficial.

The school's mission is to help its young people thrive in a mainstream educational setting, while providing a safe and nurturing environment until they are ready to make that transition.

The normal working pattern is Monday-Friday 8:30 until 16:30 and is a long-term position.

The successful teacher will have:

  • Qualified teacher status (QTS) and relevant teaching qualifications.
  • A current DBS that is on the update system, or a willingness to obtain one.
  • SEMH experience.
  • Ability to effectively deliver the curriculum, offering support, advice and guidance to pupils.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with pupils, colleagues, parents and other professionals.
  • Adaptability and initiative to accommodate for various learning type and abilities, striving towards social and academic development.
  • High expectations and aspirations for young people and themselves.
