Sales Director – On-Trade Wholesale Location: North of England (multi-site)Sector: On-Trade, Hospitality, WholesaleA market-leading composite wholesaler in the On-Trade sector is seeking a Sales Director to lead and scale its sales operation across the North of England. With a turnover exceeding £100m and serving over 3,000 independent hospitality accounts each month, this is a business with both momentum and ambition.This is a board-level appointment, reporting directly to the Managing Director, and working closely with fellow board members to drive profitable growth across all product categories and new business development.The Role This is a hands-on, commercially astute leadership role, responsible for driving performance through a sales team of 45 via Regional and Depot Sales Managers. You’ll be given the autonomy to identify and unlock new revenue streams, while embedding strategy and performance culture across the team.Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Full accountability for the sales function, including team leadership, sales strategy and budget delivery
  • Drafting annual sales budgets and delivering regular sales forecasts and margin analyses
  • Developing and delivering strategic sales plans to expand the customer base and enhance market presence
  • Leading on KPIs across sales mix, margin, new business, churn, and performance versus budget
  • Managing senior-level customer relationships and driving Joint Business Planning (JBP) with supplier partners
  • Collaborating with Commercial, Finance, and Operations to ensure alignment with wider business goals
  • Playing a central role in the planning and delivery of the annual sales conference
About You You are an experienced and energetic sales leader from the On-Trade or adjacent wholesale sectors, who thrives on change and knows how to inspire a high-performing team. You’ll bring not just strategic clarity but also the ability to roll up your sleeves and lead from the front.You will need:
  • A proven track record of sales growth and target achievement in the On-Trade sector
  • Experience managing large, field-based sales teams across multi-site operations
  • Commercial and strategic acumen with a data-led approach to sales management
  • Strong change management capability with a hands-on leadership style
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
