The Role

As a Contracts Manager, you will play a key role in overseeing and managing earthworks and ground remediation projects from tender stage through to successful delivery. You will be responsible for ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Lead multiple earthworks and remediation projects, ensuring compliance with contractual, financial, and programme objectives.

  • Contract & Commercial Oversight: Oversee the procurement, negotiation, and administration of contracts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure value for money.

  • Financial Control: Manage budgets, cost reporting, and cash flow, ensuring financial viability and mitigating risk.

  • Site Supervision & Compliance: Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, enforce health, safety, and environmental (HSE) compliance, and ensure quality standards are met.

  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate project risks, ensuring timely resolution of issues.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain strong relationships with clients, regulatory bodies, and internal teams to ensure clear communication and project success.

  • Reporting & Documentation: Prepare detailed reports on project performance, financial status, and contractual obligations, ensuring transparency and accountability.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in Contracts Management within the earthworks, groundworks, or remediation sector.

  • Strong knowledge of contract law (NEC, JCT) and procurement processes.

  • Experience in managing subcontractors, supply chains, and project teams.

  • Excellent leadership and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to risk management.

  • Full understanding of CDM regulations, HSE requirements, and quality control.

  • Strong IT skills, including contract management software and project planning tools.

  • Full UK driving licence and right to work in the UK.
