We are seeking a proactive and engaging Work Experience Coordinator to join a dedicated careers and employability team, supporting learners to gain meaningful work placements and develop the skills, knowledge, and behaviours they need to succeed in the workplace.

  • Source and secure relevant work experience and placement opportunities with employers that support learner development.
  • Build and maintain relationships with employers, businesses, and partner organisations at local, regional, and national levels.
  • Deliver engaging employability sessions to prepare learners for work placements and develop their work-readiness skills.
  • Ensure all placements comply with health and safety requirements, conducting risk assessments as needed.
  • Organise and support employer engagement activities, including guest speakers, workplace visits, live projects, and virtual work experiences.
  • Maintain accurate learner and placement records using agreed systems, ensuring progress is monitored and shared with stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with curriculum teams to integrate work experience opportunities into programmes of study.
  • Promote innovation and best practice within the work experience and wider careers team.

Essential Requirements

  • 5 GCSEs (A-C/9-4) or equivalent, including English and Maths.
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent (A Levels, BTEC National, GNVQ Advanced).
  • Qualification in teaching, instructing, coaching, mentoring, or advice and guidance - or willingness to work towards one.
  • Experience of working with young people individually and in groups.
  • Experience of building and maintaining relationships with employers and external partners.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and confident using data systems.

Desirable but not essential

  • Level 2 Safeguarding qualification or willingness to obtain.
  • Experience in mentoring or coaching within an educational setting.
  • Knowledge of FE/HE curriculum pathways including T-Levels, Study Programmes, and Apprenticeships.
