We’re partnering with a leading education provider in the North East to recruit a forward-thinking People Advisor (FTC until July 2026) to cover maternity leave.

Based in Northumberland and supporting multiple sites, this is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established People team that’s passionate about creating an inclusive, high-performing culture.

The Opportunity

You’ll be a trusted advisor to managers across several locations, providing expert support on employee relations, coaching, and people initiatives. You’ll also contribute to embedding updated policies and help shape the rollout of a new People system launching in 2025.

This role is about more than casework — it’s a chance to drive cultural change, spot opportunities for improvement, and align people practices with core organisational values.

The role can be based at either Ashington or Sunderland. Travel between sites is expected weekly or as needed, so a full driving licence and flexibility are essential. This is an office-first position (Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm), but there’s flexibility to adjust start/finish times when needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide confident, clear advice on a range of employee relations matters
  • Coach and upskill line managers in best practice people management
  • Analyse HR data and trends to inform decisions
  • Support the implementation of new HR systems, policies and procedures
  • Champion the organisation’s values through all people initiatives
  • Collaborate across departments and campuses
  • Lead investigations and manage ER cases end-to-end
  • Contribute to HR-led projects and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Produce reports and insights for stakeholders

What We’re Looking For

  • CIPD Level 5 or equivalent experience
  • Strong generalist background, with hands-on ER experience
  • Skilled in coaching and influencing at all levels
  • Confident handling complex employee relations cases
  • Data-savvy, with experience using metrics to shape HR work
