GSL Education are currently recruiting for Graduate Teaching Assistants to work across schools in Newcastle. This role is perfect for aspiring teachers, educational psychologists, or individuals interested in gaining hands-on classroom experience.

Role Overview:

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff to support students academically and emotionally. You’ll gain invaluable classroom experience, contribute to a positive learning environment, and help learners with various needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students on a 1:1 basis or in small groups to reinforce learning.
  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
  • Help manage classroom behaviour and encourage positive interactions.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to staff.
  • Foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all learners.

Job Requirements of Graduate Teaching Assistant:

  • A degree in psychology, education, child development, or a related discipline (or equivalent qualification).
  • Previous experience working with children or young people in an educational, youth work, or care setting.
  • A genuine enthusiasm for education and a commitment to supporting the development and well-being of students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff and parents.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
