NEOS Recruitment are working exclusively with a leading M&E & HVAC contractor delivering a major high-profile project in Newcastle. We’re seeking an experienced Project Engineer (Mechanical or Electrical) to take a key role in overseeing, coordinating, and delivering building services that allow the development to function exactly as designed.

The Role

As a Building Services Project Engineer, you’ll be responsible for the full life cycle of the mechanical or electrical systems – from design through to installation, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance planning.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Negotiating and developing project contracts and managing tenders
  • Commissioning, organising, and assessing contractor work
  • Producing and interpreting detailed diagrams, plans, and CAD drawings
  • Utilising BIM for coordinated system delivery on complex projects
  • Managing budgets and ensuring energy-efficient systems are implemented
  • Designing site-specific equipment as required
  • Overseeing installation, specifying maintenance and operating procedures
  • Monitoring and optimising building systems performance
  • Making decisions on replacement and upgrades to expired equipment
  • Liaising with structural engineers, architects, surveyors, and in-house teams
  • Attending technical and project group meetings
  • Ensuring legislative, health & safety, and environmental compliance
  • Advising clients on energy use, sustainability, and carbon footprint reduction

The Person

You will bring:

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Solid numeracy and time-management skills
  • Competence in 3D visualisation, CAD, and IT systems

Qualifications:

  • HNC/Degree in Building Services Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Built Environment, or similar discipline
