Freelance Quantity Surveyor – Gateshead – Highways – 3 Month Contract - £325 per day Inside IR35

Summary:
My client are seeking a Freelance Quantity Surveyor to join their team on a three-month temporary contract based at their regional office in Gateshead. As part of a multiple-disciplined construction business, this role is situated within the Highways department. Reporting directly to the Senior Quantity Surveyor, the successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and executing competent plans for projects of varying scales, ensuring they align with company and functional procedures and standards.

Key responsibilities include overseeing the measurement and preparation of valuations, managing financial accounts, liaising with clients, securing payments, and mentoring subordinate staff. This role requires a proactive individual with a strong background in highway projects and a deep understanding of the NEC forms of contract.


Key Accountabilities:

• Overseeing the measurement and preparation of valuations
• Preparing and agreeing interim valuations and final accounts
• Recording, monitoring and reviewing the financial performance of contracts
• Managing financial accounts and report to senior management on the project performance
• Liaising and presenting to the client on the project performance
• Securing payments from customers within the specified contract terms
• Subcontract procurement and management of subcontractor accounts
• Pre-contract pricing and agreement project costs.

Skills:
1. Relevant HND or Degree in Quantity Surveying
2. Experience using NEC forms of contract
3. Experience in highway projects
4. Numeracy and analytical ability
5. Commercial awareness
