Our client, an international geotechnical and environmental consultancy headquartered in Staffordshire, are seeking a Geotechnical Modeller to join their growing team. The successful candidate will have a background in geotechnical modelling with a particular focus on mining infrastructure, working across projects including tailings dams, pit slopes, and mine waste facilities. The role offers flexibility to work fully remotely from anywhere in the UK or in their office if preferred. Salary ranging from £30,000 to £70,000 depending on experience, alongside a competitive benefit.
Geotechnical Modeller Job Overview- Develop, calibrate, and run geotechnical numerical models using software such as FLAC3D and PLAXIS to support the design and assessment of mining infrastructure.
- Integrate geotechnical models with civil design outputs using Civil 3D.
- Analyse site investigation data to inform model parameters and design recommendations.
- Support geotechnical and civil design teams in delivering technically sound, cost-effective engineering solutions.
- Prepare technical reports, design calculations, and documentation to meet client and regulatory requirements.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project objectives are achieved on time and within budget.
- Contribute to risk assessments, design reviews, and quality assurance processes.
- Collaborate on multidisciplinary projects, working closely with environmental, civil, and mining engineers.
- Potential for occasional travel to project sites in the UK and internationally.
- Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mining Engineering or related discipline.
- Strong experience in geotechnical modelling, ideally within mining infrastructure projects (e.g., tailings dams, slopes, underground excavations).
- Proficient in FLAC3D and PLAXIS; experience with Civil 3D highly desirable.
- Solid understanding of geotechnical principles, soil/rock mechanics, and numerical analysis methods.
- Ability to interpret and apply ground investigation data to practical engineering problems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting and client interaction.
- Full UK driving licence preferred; willingness to travel for occasional site visits
