Job Role: Art/DT Teacher
Location: Newham & Tower Hamlets
Salary: £185 - £285 per day
Start Date: September 2025
Contract: Permanent, Long Term
GSL Education London Branch is currently seeking a passionate and inspiring Art/DT Teacher to work in vibrant secondary schools across Newham and Tower Hamlets. This is a fantastic opportunity to join schools that value creativity, innovation, and hands-on learning. The position begins in September 2025 and is available on a permanent, long-term basis.
We are looking for an Art/DT Teacher who can deliver engaging and practical lessons that spark imagination and develop key skills in Art and Design Technology. This is a great chance to bring your artistic flair and technical know-how into the classroom and support students in expressing themselves while learning valuable life skills.
Responsibilities of an Art/DT Teacher:
- Deliver engaging Art and Design Technology lessons to Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students
- Plan and prepare creative and practical lessons that inspire pupils and promote independent thinking
- Foster a safe and supportive learning environment that encourages exploration and expression
- Promote high standards of behaviour, effort, and presentation in all student work
- Use a variety of teaching methods and resources to meet the needs of all learners
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to plan projects and enrich the curriculum
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to support development
Requirements for the Art/DT Teacher role:
- Hold UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Have experience teaching Art and/or Design Technology in a secondary school setting
- Strong knowledge of the Art/DT curriculum and assessment methods
- Ability to manage a classroom effectively and maintain high expectations
- Creative, organised, and enthusiastic about supporting young people
- Willingness to take part in department and whole-school events
